Good Morning Hawks

Today is Wednesday, August 24, 2016

 

Please rise for the pledge

 

YEARBOOK PICTURES: Underclassmen pictures will be taken on Monday August 29th.  Teachers you will be receiving packets on Wednesday.

Pictures will be taken thru the following classes.

Freshmen thru your Health/Impac class

Sophomores thru World History

Juniors thru US History

If you are not registered in one of the above classes please stop by the Activities Office and we will schedule a time for you.

 

PARKING PASSES are $35.00 and will be sold during lunch everyday and before school on Monday, Wednesday and Friday in the Activities Office.

 

ACADEMIC DECATHLON Do you like learning things? Are you curious about the world? Do you agree that being called a nerd is a compliment? Come check out Academic Decathlon, it's a team sport for your brain. First meeting: Friday at lunch in E113.

 

WINGSQUAD: Wing Squad will have its first informational meeting this Thursday 8/25 in Ms. Corbitt’s room H208 during lunch.

 

FLY FISHING: Calling all fly fishermen and flyfisherwomen....come to F212 Friday at lunch for the brand new Volcano Vista High School Fly fishing club!!  All students and Staff are welcome to learn all there is to know about a hobby that will last a lifetime!"

 

FNHS: There will be a French Honor Society Meeting today at lunch in E113. All members should plan to attend. 

 

POWDER DANCE: Our fist annual powder dance will be on Friday evening at 7pm on the baseball field. The cost is $5 at the gate and you will receive a packet of colored powder. Dress is casual and you will be required to show your ID at the gate. You might want to wear a white t-shirt to show all the colors.

 

ATHLETICS

BASEBALL: Anyone interested in trying out for baseball this year needs to attend a brief informational meeting tomorrow(Thursday) at the beginning of lunch in the aux gym.

 

METRO SOCCER TOURNAMENT:

BOYS SOCCER: will play Sandia at the complex at 4

GIRLS SOCCER: will play Del Norte at the complex at 4

 

The Volleyball Alumni Game will be this Friday at 6 PM in the Ring of FIRE! COME SUPPORT YOUR HAWKS AND ALUMNI!!!

 

SATURDAY:

BOYS SOCCER: will play at Del Norte at 4 at the soccer complex

GIRLS SOCCER: will play Manzano at 9:15 at the soccer complex

FOOTBALL: our first game is at 1pm against Valley at Community Stadium

 

We will be on a long assembly schedule tomorrow for the Fall Spirit Assembly. The assembly is at the end of 2nd period.

PARKING PASSES are $35.00 and will be sold during lunch everyday and before school on Monday, Wednesday and Friday in the Activities Office. Please be sure to have the form filled out and bring the correct documentation. Cars will be tagged with the orange stickers beginning today. Cars will be tagged 2 times and on the third time it will be booted. Removal of the boot is $50.00. It is cheaper to by the pass. HURRY!

 

LOCKER If you wish to move to a different locker come by the activities office today at lunch.

 

DODGEBALL: Attention all staff and students that signed up for dodgeball tournament at lunch.  The schedule will be posted on the main gym door by the start of 3rd period.  Please report to the main gym immediately at the start of lunch.  If your team is not ready to play at their start time, they will be disqualified from the tournament.  

 

NHS: ALL VVHS NHS members, the first mandatory meeting of the year will be today in E-214 at the start of lunch. Please do not be late.

GSA Today is the second meeting of the GSA in F-125 during lunch. Anyone interested in attending is welcome. Volcano Vista's Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) is a club that works toward and promotes acceptance of all students in the school community regardless of gender identity and/or sexual orientation. As the name implies we are a group made up of students of ALL genders, and ALL sexual orientations, so everyone is welcome to attend. Our meetings are every Monday at lunch in conference room F125.  To get signed up for the Remind101 alerts, see Ms. Phaneuf in room A120.

MILITARY SERVICE ACADEMY: For anyone interested in applying to a Military Service Academy or college ROTC, there is an informational meeting at the UNM Student Union Building at 6 pm on Tuesday, 23 August.  Congressional Representatives will be there to answer any questions.  Please see Major Campbell in B-154 for more information.

GOLF: Students who are interested in trying out for the Fall Golf team need to attend a meeting today in Coach Cota's classroom in A-216.  You must attend the meeting if you want to tryout.

BOYS & GIRLS TEAMS will both play Albuquerque High at 6:45 this evening at the soccer complex.

 

Ticket prices at all APS Athletic events are $5 for adults and $3 for students with ID cards

REMINDER: students may not park on campus without their purchased parking permit from the VVHS Activities Office.

 

REMINDER: students may not park at Tierra Antigua Elementary School, Tony Hillerman Middle School, the church on the corner, neighborhood streets, etc. Those areas are not designated for student parking, and those entities or individuals may take punitive action to address unauthorized parking.
